2020 年初め、新型肺炎の発生により世界が封鎖、基本的権利が制限され、混乱の闇に命が吹き込まれました。この作品はそれら出来事に着目し、過去にトンネル内で抱いた不安と現在抱えている不安を結び付けるところから始まりました。 つまり、部屋に閉じ込められている生活状況とトンネルを通過するという行動の類似点は、日常生活（トンネルの外）からの分離ということです。

この映画は「部屋から出られない」人々を描いています。部屋に閉じ込められた人々は、規律的行動や言動から、最終的には必死さ故に互いに疑い深くなります。 映像中の「視線」は、この映画から切り取ったものです。視線のみという情報は、他者のその他情報を取り除いた結果として、時間の流れさえも排除され潜在的でより広い共感を示しています。
カミュ著『ペスト』
少数の理性的な人々が自分の考えや行動などを深く省みることに焦点を当てた作品。
この著書は小さな港町での話である上に、登場人物はお互いを理解しあっています。しかし現在、その規模は世界レベルであり、膨大な情報がネット上で共有され、個人がそれぞれの判断に基づいて情報を処理するため、結果として、様々な意思決定を招き、人々の判断に偏りが生じます。
いかにも、曲がりくねった暗いトンネルを走行するとき、反対車線から迫る車のライトは出口の光の様にも見えます。その光は、家に閉じ込められた人々にとって、洪水のように流れてくるネットの情報そのものであり、私たちを惑わし、私たちが理解し合うことを遠ざけているのです。 映像の中ではさまざまな検索エンジンのアクションを使用して、現実とインターネット間における、事実と非現実を不明瞭にします。
作品名
トンネルに入る前に設置された道路標識「トンネル内点灯せよ」からきています。 照明を点ける・点けないを別ける境界線（chaotic & order）があるように、時間の流れに対する境界線と言えるでしょう。つまり、何か非日常な物事が発生しない限り私たちは「点灯」させることはないのです。しかし考え方によっては、私達の考える日常そのものが「点灯」させた状態であり、もともと、ある種大きなトンネルの中にいたのかもしれません。

「exit(出口)」と「exist(存在)」を変換させたモールス信号を現在形・過去形など活用変化させ使用しています。
Early 2020, a new type of pneumonia blocked the world, limiting people’s basic rights and bringing the darkness of confusion to life. This work began by linking the anxiety I had in the tunnel with the anxiety I have right now. Condition of “trapping inside a room” and the action of “passing through a tunnel” is connected, because both of them are detached from outside life (outside tunnel).
Luis Bunuel “The Exterminating Angel”
This movie depicts a group of people who cannot get out of a room. Because of their sense of fear, anxiety and desperation, people trapped in the room eventually become suspicious of one another. The "sight" in the video was taken from this movie. By removing other information but the gaze, artist creates a broader empathy, which has potential to eliminate the passage of time.
Albert Camus "The Plague"
A work focused on a small number of rational people in a small port town, they deeply reflect their thoughts and actions during pneumonia, result in some mutual-understanding. However, the scale is different in modern world. Enormous amounts of information are shared on internet, individuals process information based on their own judgment, resulting in various decisions and bias.
The light of a car approaching from the opposite lane can look like the light of exit, especially inside some winding dark tunnel. For those being trapped at homes, information online confuse them can be similar to those mistaken car-lights. By searching “tunnel exit” on various search engine (Google, Baidu, Bing), facts and unrealities between reality and the Internet are being obscured.
Title
The title comes from the road sign "Turn light on in tunnel”, which usually installed at tunnel entrance. The word “Turn light on" is very interesting. The action of (turn light on or not) itself is like a boundary line ( chaotic & order), which can be further interpreted as a boundary line for the flow of time. In other words, we don't “turn light on” unless something unusual happens. However, depending on the way of thinking, our daily life itself can be in a state of “lightened”, while already been inside a larger tunnel.

Morse code converted from "exit" and "exist" is used by changing the present tense and past tense.
