Right: By uploading "Traces of occupation" to the biggest Chinese Online Shopping website (www.taobao.com), artist lets the website to find similar pictures online, by using "Image Searching" function, which is originally designed for convenient online shopping here.
"Traces of occupation" is a photo series indicating the existence of past, broken frames, hole left by a nail, peeling grafitti on an old wall...they are evidence of somethiong once existed, while they are now valueless, and usually lacking belongingness. However, goods in online market are defined by specific prices, and can be possibly purchased by anyone, in order words, everyone can become the owner.
In this work, traces in public space are recognized by AI as priced merchandise online, connecting the reality and network society in a contradictory way.
